Reading midfielder Brynjar Gunnarsson believes his season could be over following a groin operation on Monday.
The Icelandic international has not played since the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa in January and despite returning to training last week, the surgery originally scheduled for the end of the campaign had to be brought forward.
Gunnarsson told a local newspaper that the operation has gone well according to his doctors and is provisionally ruled out for four weeks, but the player is unlikely to play again this season.
