Reading's Bennett cools Leeds talk

Alan Bennett is aiming to make an impact at Reading amid rumours he is wanted by Leeds United.

The Republic of Ireland international joined Reading from Cork City in a £250,000 transfer in the January window.

He has yet to make a first-team appearance for Steve Coppell's side and has been linked with Leeds, who watched the defender on several occasions last season.

"I've heard nothing from Reading," Bennett told the Reading Chronicle.

"I only read about it the other day when I picked up a local paper over here in Cork.

"But it doesn't really interest me right now, although things may change in January if I am not playing.

"All I want is to give pre-season a really good lash and see where that takes me. If I left now, I would always regret not giving it a real go."
