Reading upbeat over Sonko fitness

Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko hopes to be fit for this weekend's clash with Manchester City.

The Senegalese defender had been a doubt to feature at the City of Manchester Stadium this weekend due to a groin strain.

However, Reading physio Jon Fearn has given an upbeat bulletin on his progress, while Michael Duberry has been given an outside chance of facing Sven-Goran Eriksson's side.

"'Sonky' had a minor groin strain from the Arsenal game, but I'm sure he will train on Thursday and be fine for Man City," he told the club's official website.

"'Doobs' is in light training at the moment, and we'll keep reviewing him as the week goes by. He might have a chance for the weekend."

Glenn Little has been on the sidelines for some time due to a troublesome Achilles injury, although Fearn is pleased he is recovering from surgery well.

"We're seeing the surgeon on Thursday," he said on Little's progress. "That will give us more clarification on when he can get running and so on.

"The six weeks after the op are the most important, and we've reached the end of that now.

"The next step is to get detail of where to go next. He's doing well, and is probably a quarter of the way through."
