English Championship club Reading are believed to be keen on LA Galaxy star Gyasi Zardes.
According to Royals boss Steve Clarke, the Berkshire outfit have been monitoring the 24-year-old forward for some time and are considering making a move for his services this MLS off-season.
"Zardes has been on a few clubs' radar for a little while," Clarke told GetReading.com.
"He's a player that we've had watched and we've got some reports on him.
"He's another possibility that's out there."
Regarding the $2.9million-plus (£2m) price tag of the 18-time USA international, Clarke added: "Can we afford him? That's probably not a question I can answer."
Zardes made his Galaxy debut in 2013 and has gone on to score 26 goals in 88 MLS appearances, for a total of 32 in 107 matches in all competitions.
