Reading's Le Fondre confident of survival after Man Utd showing

Reading striker Adam Le Fondre believes the club will avoid relegation if they can produce more performances like the one against Manchester United on the weekend.

The Royals lost 4-3 to the league leaders after leading 3-2 inside 25 minutes and Le Fondre, who netted his side's second goal, feels similar showings against lesser clubs will get Reading the points they need to climb out of the relegation zone.

"I think we can take heart from the performance and take it into the coming games," Le Fondre told the club's official website ahead of the weekend's clash against fellow relegation battlers Southampton.

"Every game is important in this league and every game is a tough test. But if we play against Southampton like we did on Saturday then we'll be okay."

He added: "When you play against that sort of opposition you expect a tight game but it didn't really play out that way. It was end to end, loads of chances, but we're disappointed that we were on the wrong end of the result.

"We had a top team on the ropes throughout the game - we created good chances from set-pieces, got in front but unfortunately couldn't quite hold on."
