Reading boss Brian McDermott is pushing Alex Pearce to pen a new deal.

Both Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion are keen on the centre-back, who will be available on a free transfer if he decides to leave the Royals.

McDermott said: "Obviously I'm frustrated with the contract situation, it's a good offer, he's got to make his mind up.

"He says he wants to stay and play for me, he has to make his own mind up on that."
