Reading fullback Nicky Shorey admits Brian McDermott's sacking was a shock.

Shorey says the whole Reading squad were shocked by McDermott's shock sacking last week.

"Disappointed, shocked all of those emotions, But we respect the owner's decision," he said.

"We're still positive."
