Reading physio confirms Federici injury

The injury that forced Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici out of the Socceroos squad has been confirmed by the club physio. Jon Fearn told the club's official website that the injury is not serious but would be enough to keep him from travelling to Japan.

"The back injury is something that has developed over the last few days, probably as a result of training on hard surfaces in the recent cold weather," Fearn said.

"It took a turn for the worse towards the end of last week and we had to work quite hard to get him available for the game with Preston on Saturday.

"He now needs treatment and some time to allow the injury to settle down, and the long flights to Japan and back could well have aggravated the symptoms.

"It's a good thing from Adam's point of view that we're not playing this week, so he's now got two weeks to fully recuperate and we're hopeful that he'll be available for the game with Bristol City."
