Reading manager Brian McDermott has denied claims that he is after Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.
The 29-year old Spurs striker has been heavily linked with a summer move to the Premier League newcomers but McDermott was quick to quash that speculation.
"No," was his simple response when asked by the Reading Post if he was in pursuit of Defoe.
Regarding how the rumour began, he added: "I don't know to be honest with you. (Director of football) Nick (Hammond) might have spoken to Daniel Levy, he speaks to him quite regularly."
