Reading boss Brian McDermott has made it clear that Alex McCarthy will not be heading to Leeds United permanently.

The 22-year old goalkeeper has been impressive on loan at Elland Road with his stint being extended by a month but the Royals have no intention of selling him to the Whites.

"Absolutely no chance whatsoever. It's not even worth discussing," McDermott told the Chronicle.

"Alex is playing for them on loan at the moment, but that's all. It works for both them and most importantly for Alex."
