Reading are lining up a £4 million deal for Tottenham fullback Kyle Naughton.

The Mirror says new Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is assessing whether the 23-year-old, who's also been linked with Aston Villa and newly-promoted Southampton, is part of his plans before accepting or rejecting the offer.

Naughton made only one Premier League appearance for Spurs under AVB's predecessor Harry Redknapp after joining from Sheffield United in July 2009 and spent last season on loan at Norwich.

Royals manager Brian McDermott said: "We've made an offer for another player. That has been ongoing for a number of weeks.

"He is in England and we've targeted him for a number of weeks. We're hopeful we can get it done."
