Reading goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann has welcomed interest from Tottenham. USA international Hahnemann told the Reading Chronicle: "It's really flattering, though I don't know how much of it is true.

"But I work very hard and it is nice to get recognition from another club, especially one as big as Tottenham."

The 36-year-old is said to be committed to Reading's bid to get promotion back to the Barclays Premier League.

But he would find a move to the Carling Cup winners hard to resist - especially as his current contract runs out at the end of the season - and reports earlier this week said Spurs were already in talks with his agent.

"The scary thing is that, as of August, I won't get paid any more,' said Hahnemann. 'That's a frightening prospect in anyone's book so you never know what can happen in football."
