Reading keeper Federici admits Beijing dilemma

The Reading stopper is eligible to play for Australia, but with the tournament running from 6th to 24th August, he is wary of missing the start of next season.

He told the matchday programme, "I have an interesting decision to make soon - the Olympic Games are coming up and I have had a few phone calls about that, letting me know that I am in contention.

"Although I turned 23 recently, I am still classed as an under-23 player so I am eligible for my country in Beijing.

"But it plays through August, so I would miss a few games at Reading. I have some decisions to make, decisions I want to make wisely."

In addition, Royals Australian winger Oliver Bozanic could also be selected for the tournament, having previously been involved with his country at youth level in Olympic training camps.
