The full-back, 23, knows he will have his work cut out facing the wing wizard at the Madejski.
Gunter said: "Gareth is a world-class winger who I know well - we have just been on an international break together
"It will be good to see him and some of the others from my Tottenham days. I have only played against him once so it should be good.
"It is an advantage that I know him well but he is such a good player that I won't know how to deal with him until we are out there playing.
"I have played and trained with him for a number of years, so I know some of his strengths and weaknesses and that will be a help.
"We spoke about the game while with Wales and I cannot wait. They need the points and so do we so it should be good."
