New Reading contract talks with Nicky Shorey will re-open next week when the England left-back returns from honeymoon in Mauritius.

Coppell firmly believes the 26-year-old will pledge his future to Reading despite interest from Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce.

"We planned to re-negotiate his contract long before any England involvement," revealed Royals boss Steve Coppell.

"We spoke before he left on honeymoon and we'll do the same as soon as he returns. I'm confident we can reach a positive conclusion."
