Reading confident keeping Hunt

Reading remain confident they will be able to persuade Stephen Hunt to pledge his future to the club.

The Irishman's future is in some doubt, as Sunderland are pressing to take him to The Stadium of Light.

Reading have so far rebuffed the approaches from The Black Cats and are eager to show their commitment to the midfielder by handing him an improved contract.

"We've been in talks with Hunty for some time and things are moving forward," Reading director of football Nicky Hammond told the Evening Post. "I'm confident we will find a solution which suits both parties.

"He does have two-and-a-half years left on his current deal, but we are trying to reward him for his contributions because they have been enormous."
