Reading boss Steve Coppell is reportedly closing in on a swoop for Ivory Coast international Emerse Fae from French side Nantes.

The Royals launched a failed bid for the 23-year-old last summer but following Nantes' relegation to Ligue 2, the French side have given up hope of holding on to their academy product.

Sporting director Xavier Gravelaine told the Sunday Mirror: "It should be finalised soon. The fact that he has been injured has slowed down his exit."
