Reading chief Nicky Hammond is delighted with their summer market business.
"We're pleased with the business we have done and are making really good progress," Hammond told Getreading.
"We're a long way ahead of where we were this time last year.
"The aim was to get the players that we wanted prior to Portugal and we have done well with that and are in reasonably good shape.
"It's a nice position to be in. Normally at this time of the year I'm looking at who I'm going to sell to balance the books, which is what we have done since we were last in the Premier League.
"That's the model that we have run before, but it's different to that this summer. It's a much better situation to be in. Players are players, though, and you always have to make a good decision whether they are a £100,000 player or a £10million player."
