Reading chief Hammond confident keeping main players

Reading football chief Nicky Hammond is confident they won't sell any of their main players this month.

"I don't want to comment other than to say Stephen Hunt is a very important part of this team's success," Hammond, reacting to Sunderland's interest in Stephen Hunt, told the Reading Chronicle.

"He was a free transfer from Brentford and he's a shining example of what can be achieved with hard-work, dedication and no little ability. He's a Reading-type player and if the club wants to move forward he's got to be a big part of that.

"It's the crazy season. Players are going everywhere and we're linked with people I've never heard of. It's part and parcel of the Premier League circus.

"No players will be leaving us, unless it's in the best interests of Reading Football Club."
