Reading manager Brendan Rodgers believes they had to sell Kevin Doyle to Wolves this week.
"He will go down as one of the best signings in the club's history, if not they very best - but I also like that he has the outlook of a top, top player," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"But I always repeat, no player or manager is bigger than the club. Him going is part of our evolution.
"And now we're looking at a number of new players. Losing 18 goals in Kevin means that he needs to be replaced.
"I will look to bring someone in with the same effectiveness in terms of goals and assists so we can be as competitive next year."
