Reading boss Brian McDermott feels he needs to strengthen his defence in January.

McDermott claims it is at the back that they are looking to strengthen.

"It's possible we'll bring in some players in January," he told talkSPORT. "We had that discussion with the owner the other day.

"You don't just sign players for the sake of it, though. You have to sign players in this league that can hit the ground running and can come straight into your team and squad and make a difference.

"We need some experience and nouse. We've only kept one clean sheet this year so it's obvious we need people at the back. We've had no problems scoring goals but we've got to keep clean sheets. We're doing that hardest bit of football, and that's scoring goals."
