Reading boss McDermott upbeat over deal for Stoke fullback Griffin

Reading boss Brian McDermott hopes to complete the signing of Stoke City fullback Andy Griffin.

Royals have been locked in talks with Stoke City and the Reading Chronicle says Potters boss Tony Pulis is ready to let Griffin go for a six-figure fee as he has two years left on his contract at Britannia Stadium.

McDermott explained: "I'm happy with my squad but obviously I still need a right-back and everyone knows the one I want.

"It is something we're trying very hard to do. There has been dialogue between us and Stoke and the situation has to come to a conclusion at some point soon.

"We've still got a bit of work to do but we're hoping it will be sooner rather than later."
