Reading boss Brian McDermott has snapped back at Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson.

Lawrenson claimed recently that not a single Reading player would get a game at one of the other struggling sides.

McDermott retorted: "Well, what can I say? Mark Lawrenson gets paid to talk about football and Mark's got his opinions. I've got no problem with people defending their own opinions. We're doing the best we possibly can. We develop players here. We work really hard with the players we've got here.

"In the last 10 or 11 years the club has come on leaps and bounds. They are now in the Premier League, there was 24,000 people here against Norwich. This is a good time to be a Reading fan."
