Reading boss McDermott not listening to Advocaat rumours

Reading manager Brian McDermott has cooled rumours that Dick Advocaat is set to take his role at the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals are being linked with a new manager as they sit 18th on the Premier League table and it has been reported in Holland that owner Anton Zingarevich is seeking discussions with ex-Holland national team boss Advocaat.

But McDermott says he has heard nothing of the sort and is comfortable in his position with Reading whom he guided to the Championship title last season.

"(He is a) decent manager - I haven't actually (read anything)," he said.

"It is pretty sad to have conversations like this really I think - you have a bunch of people here absolutely trying their best to the nth degree at the club."

He added: "We have got six draws, which could have been different, and great staff. Stories like that are stories - that is all they are.

"It is completely out of my control and is nothing to do with football, nothing to do with what we have to do on Saturday. It is nothing to do with it - that is the only thing that I would want to talk about."
