Reading boss Brian McDermott is delighted skipper Jobi McAnuff is winning national recognition.

The midfielder was impressive in their draw with Newcastle United.

"Sometimes it proves that if you keep persevering you never know where you can get," said McDermott.

"He spent a lot of time at many clubs but he's found his home here. Last season he picked up the Championship trophy and now he's playing in the top flight for the first time and it is a really nice story."
