Reading boss Brian McDermott says Jobi McAnuff deserves better from fans.
Winger McAnuff became only the second player in the club's 141-year history to lift the trophy when he led his side to the Championship title last season. But the 31-year-old remains unpopular with some Royals fans.
"He is a real leader - ask anyone at the club about what he gives us," said McDermott.
"Jobi is the second person in 100-odd years to lift the Championship trophy here. He deserves respect. People can say whatever, I can't be responsible for that. I'm delighted with Jobi, he is a great person and leader."
