Steve Coppell is yet to decide whether disciplinary action will be taken against Leroy Lita after his sex-antics were exposed in a Sunday tabloid.
The 22-year-old striker is said to have scored with a mystery brunette then filmed them having sex together on his mobile phone.
Lita was dropped from Reading's starting line-up last Saturday when the Royals ended a three-match losing streak with a 2-1 win against Wigan Athletic.
However, Coppell insisted his decision had nothing to do with the allegations which appeared in the newspaper the following day.
The Reading boss said: "I had been told on Friday lunchtime something might be in the paper but I had already made my decision on Thursday night.
"I haven't spoken to him about it yet and I felt it wasn't the right time. I will have a chat with him in the fullness of time.
"I don't know how much substance there is to it.
"He has not volunteered any information to me and I will ask him about it at some stage, but it's not high up on my agenda."
The revelation will cause further embarrassment to Lita who has been involved in a number of off-field incidents since his £1 million move from Bristol City in July 2005.
"If it's true it's distasteful for sure," added Coppell. "We will make a judgement call but I don't want the threat of disciplinary action hanging over him.
"I want to get the facts first and it will happen in its own time.
"I'm not going to bust a gut to confront him about it. I will know when the occasion is right."
