Reading boss Steve Coppell says Spartak Moscow goalkeeper Wojciech Kowalewski will every chance of winning a Royals contract during his trials.
"You have to think about 'what happens if?' If one of our senior keepers got injured, it could be a major problem.
"So we had an experienced keeper in on trial, he's very, very accomplished. It may well be that we do something as an insurance policy.
"You can do an emergency loan, but as the season gets towards its end you can't bank on it. You would then be perilous with only one keeper , so we might well do something.
"He's a good goalkeeper."
