Reading boss Steve Coppell admits he'll be active in the winter market.

He said: "Maybe there's more of a gap between the top and the bottom now. We're competing against teams who spent £40 million in the summer when there was a real investment surge.

"For logical reasons we decided not to jump on that wagon. But it's clear that we have to supplement the squad in January. I think that's become obvious since the start of the season and I very much hope we will do that."

He added: "You get comfortable. I like the squad of players we've got but we're not getting results. If I'm not seen to be doing something about it I'm not doing my job."
