Reading boss Steve Coppell insists he's happy with what they did in the summer market.
"Was I close to a big signing? To be honest we have to be so careful, we do have our wage structure, which we can break, but I feel that would be a kick in the teeth to those players who have delivered for the last two years. So I feel we have got to gradually grow as a squad of players in terms of the people that come into the team and into the squad.
"To try and make a sea change without having the real financial resources - we could spend £15 or £20 million and we probably have the approval to do that, but I'm not sure it would make a great deal of difference. We are competing against clubs that do spend £50million and we have to accept that.
"So we have to know where we are, our niche in the Premier league, and it is down to us all to deliver. We have had a hesitant start with a tail-off, we are not licking our wounds but we are reviewing where we are and hopefully coming up with some positive conclusions so we can kick on in the next batch of games."
