Reading boss Steve Clarke still has no idea why he was sacked by West Bromwich Albion over 12 months ago.
Clarke was speaking after their FA Cup win over Cardiff City.
He was a year out of management after leaving West Brom but three wins in seven games since taking over a struggling club have them moving in the right direction.
"I don't think when I get back to the training ground that the chairman will be waiting for me," he said after this win. "But then I didn't think I'd get sacked last time."
With Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all out, Clarke, a Cup-winner as a player and coach with Chelsea, added: "I think everyone will be thinking it has opened a little."
