Reading boss Nigel Adkins has revealed he's been studying up on Daniel Carrico.

Adkins was impressed with the former Sporting Lisbon captain's second half cameo in their 0-0 draw against Liverpool.

But he revealed he had to watch video of the midfielder because he knew so little about him.

"He's joined the club and hardly had a kick," said Adkins, still searching for his first win in charge of Reading.

"You look to get to know the players and I've had a good conversation with Danny. He's done well on the training ground, but is still a long way from where he needs to be.

"He is only going to get that by working hard and getting the opportunity to play. I'm positive about the future for him.

"I've seen the video clips put together when he signed and he has got something about him."
