Reading boss Nigel Adkins has hinted Alex McCarthy could be cashed in during the summer.

The goalkeeper is interesting Liverpool and Newcastle United.

"We think we've got several good goalkeepers at Reading," Adkins said. "If you want to be successful, you've got to have a good goalkeeper.

"Adam Federici was in goal last season in the Championship and we've got Stuart Taylor, Mikkel Andersen and a couple of good youngsters coming through the system.

"From that point of view, we know how important it is and obviously we're pleased with Alex's form at Fulham."
