Reading boss Nigel Adkins accepts they're just about relegated after a home defeat to Southampton.

Jay Rodriguez and Adam Lallana netted either side of half-time in a 2-0 victory.

"It is not given and we are where we are. We have to be realistic and face the reality of that," said Adkins.

"But everyone at Reading is going to work very, very hard and we look forward to the next game. We are at the wrong end of the table, everyone is aware of that. We've got a big challenge on our hands.

"That's the reality of where we are and what we've got to do is analyse the game with the guys on Monday, debrief, take the positives from the game, learn the lessons and work very hard on the training ground ahead of the next games.

"That is important and the process we have to go through to give ourselves the opportunity to win the next game."
