Raul insists Real Madrid's players are fully behind coach Bernd Schuster. The Real skipper hit a hat-trick, but it wasn't enough as they were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Real Union after last night's 4-3 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"It is a very painful defeat for the team and for the fans and has no justification whatsoever," said Raul. "Tonight we have not stood up to defend the jersey of Real Madrid.
"Clearly, we all have confidence in the coach. The players' job is to work hard and do everything within our power to improve."
Asked if Real need to strengthen the squad in January, Raul added: "That is a matter solely for the sports director. I will not talk about such issues."
