Rapids keeper coach Sharpe: Zac MacMath capable of grabbing Everton chance

Colorado Rapids goalkeeper coach Chris Sharpe isn't surprised to see Philadelphia Union keeper Zac MacMath handed a chance at Everton.

The young shot-stopper is currently training with Everton with the prospect of winning a Premier League move ahead of the January market.

Sharpe, who has experience in England with Southampton and Chesterfield, told tribalfootball.com: "Only time will tell if he can play in the Premier League.

"Being as young as he is, its vitally important that he gets games at this point in his career. Training at Everton along side Tim Howard and with Chris Woods is only going to benefit him greatly this offseason and hopefully he will come back and build on that for the 2013 season."

Sharpe says MacMath boasts plenty of attributes, not the least a tough mentality.

"From the few games I watched him play this year and the games he played against us, he does very well at closing space down quickly and making himself big. I think that one of his strengths is his distribution, he has a very nice strike off the deck, and I think as a young GK he has shown this year he can put the forgettable moments behind him and move on."
