Raphael Varane was thrilled to make his Real Madrid debut in their Champions League win over Ajax.

The French defender became the third youngest Real player, behind Raul and Iker Casillas, to reach such a mark.

"At 18 years of age it is amazing to be a starter and to play so well," said Varane. "It's Important for me to make progress with my game.

"Mou asks me to be 100% focused. I know I have to improve my concentration throughout matches to avoid making mistakes."
