Raphael Varane is enjoying his first season with Real Madrid.

The French youngster is now being selected ahead of veteran defender Ricardo Carvalho.

"Real Madrid is a fantastic team. The facilities here are great. This is a huge club and I've seen incredible things here," he told BWin.

"I am a young Real Madrid player. I came here to help the team and to make progress in my career. My goal is to grow both personally and professionally.

"We have yet to win the league title. There are many games left and we'll have to work very hard to go to Cibeles at the end of the season."
