John Rankin has urged his Dundee United teammates to follow his lead and sign new contracts with the club.
The 28-year old midfielder recently penned a new deal to remain at Tannadice Park and hopes his out-of-contract mates follow suit so the Arabs can remain together and continue improving as a close knit team.
"I came to United for a new challenge, which is to keep the club in European football.
"You sit and think, who else is going to be here? But someone has to be the first to sign.
"I thought why wait because I know the grass is not always greener. I took the contract and feel happy with it. The boys will see that and hopefully we'll get more signed up.
''If we can get the bulk of the team to sign new deals and stick together then who knows what could happen?""I'm delighted to stay for another season, I've been playing with a smile on my face since I came here," he told Record Sport.
