Ranieri thrilled to lead hometown club Roma to Serie A leadership

Claudio Ranieri admits he's proud to have led hometown club Roma to the Serie A summit.

It's the first time former Chelsea and Valencia boss Ranieri has been able to work for the Giallorossi.

He told ESPN: "I have returned home after 35 years. I am happy to work here and to continue do so in the years to come.

"I am coaching the team of my city and this increases the emotional side of things. I am proud of this. Rome is my home and also the capital of Italy.

"Right now, there is only one project for me and it's called Roma. At the end of my career I might hopefully close out with a national team.

"We are first in the table and we will give everything in the next five games. The players who I coach are a great very united group.

"I feel good working with them. They have followed me from day one. Moreover, we have the support of a fantastic group of fans who have been close to the team in difficult moments and now can dream.

"We must keep working with our feet on the ground. We haven't done anything yet. Sure, the first place is a great satisfaction, but we must keep fighting one game at a time until the end."
