Gary Lineker has labelled Claudio Ranieri's exit from Leicester City as 'gut-wrenchingly sad'.
The Italian and the Foxes parted ways this evening less than a year after Ranieri guided the club to the Premier League title as 5000-1 outsiders.
Leicester released a statement saying the decision has been made by the board because they 'are duty-bound to put the Club's long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be'.
Leicester currently sit 17th on the Premier League table, just a point above the drop zone.
But club legend Lineker says the decision is 'unforgivable' and a sad day for the East Midlands club.
"After all that Claudio Ranieri has done for Leicester City, to sack him now is inexplicable, unforgivable and gut-wrenchingly sad," he told the BBC.
