Rangers winger Beasley: Walter Smith as good as Hiddink

Rangers winger DaMarcus Beasley rates manager Walter Smith up there with Guus Hiddink.

USA international Beasley played for Hiddink at PSV Eindhoven before making the move to Ibrox.

Beasley insists the Ibrox gaffer has the stature and quality to match Hiddink in terms of what he gets from his players.

And Smith - even at 62 - is finding new ways of getting better.

Beasley said: "I've played under a lot of great bosses from Hiddink to my current USA coach Bob Bradley. And Walter is definitely right up there.

"Yes, Hiddink has been all over the world but Walter has worked at clubs like Manchester United and Everton.

"And you can't forget he helped Rangers win nine titles in a row.

"He is a legend - in British and world football - and is getting better.

"When you look at this Rangers team we haven't changed in years.

"Whether that's down to money or whatever he has stuck with the same side. Yet we managed to get to the UEFA Cup Final and will hopefully win a second league championship."
