Rangers veteran Weir considering January departure

Rangers defender David Weir admits he may have to depart Ibrox in January to play regular first team football.

The 41-year old, who has not played since a Champions League qualifier in July, is still keen to play regularly and is aware that he may have to look elsewhere in the winter transfer market to do so.

"It's not time now because you can't go anywhere," he said.

"When the time comes in January, if that is the case, and there is an option to go somewhere else then it's something I'll have to think about. But as it stands that's not the case.

"You're always itching to play, you want to play and I've never lost that.

"I've had a few injuries this season which have curtailed that but I'm back fit again trying to get back in the team.

"Everybody needs to play, I'm no different to anyone else."
