Lee McCulloch has been cleared to play in Rangers' Old Firm clash with Celtic tomorrow night.
The 33-year old midfielder was sent off against St Mirren on Saturday for an alleged elbow on Graham Carey and the Ibrox club have now appealed the impending sanction.
The Scottish Football Association will consider the appeal on January 5 meaning McCulloch is available to play in the vital fixture a Parkhead.
"As things stand, McCulloch will be free to play against Celtic in Wednesday's crucial Old Firm clash at Parkhead although Dorin Goian (two yellow cards at St Mirren) will be suspended.
"With the SFA not due to hear the appeal until January 5 at the earliest, the midfielder is also available for the meeting with Motherwell three days earlier.""Manager Ally McCoist's initial reaction was that the decision was harsh and after watching the incident again the club has submitted its appeal to the association," read a statement on the club's official website.
