Rangers to target youth academy in Australia

Scottish club Rangers want to develop a youth academy with Australian clubs according to chief executive Charles Green.

The Glasgow outfit, currently in Scotland's Third Division, are keen to get a partnership off the ground with an A-League club as they look to tap into talent pool down under.

Green is currently in Perth ahead of trips to Melbourne and the New South Wales and it is believed that Central Coast Mariners are the club being targeted.

Green told Scotzine recently: "I am going to meet the directors of Central Coast Mariners on the back of conversations we have had.

"Australia is producing and has produced good footballers and one of the things we are looking at is putting an academy together with Mariners and it's something we have exchanged emails on and something we would like to take forward."
