Steven Naismith is confident he will make a full recovery from the knee injury which will keep him out of action for up to a year.
The Rangers striker suffered cruciate ligament damage in the Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Johnstone last month. After a successful operation, the 21-year-old paid tribute to his surgeon as he begins his long rehabilitation.
"When I went down to see the surgeon, he told me about who he had operated on before and when you look them up, most of them came back to play normally.
"The likes of Roy Keane, Bolo Zenden and Wes Brown all saw the same doctor as me and recovered well."
"When I got the injury, I spoke to Durranty about it because he suffered the same thing," explained Naismith. "His was obviously much worse but he was able to give me advice.
"Barry and Thommo have also had knee surgery in the past so I talked to the two of them as well.
"Once I heard what everyone had to say, it seemed I was in better shape than any of them were at this stage and that's encouraging.
"Of course, every injury is different and I'll need to take this one on its own merits, but I'm confident I'll make a full recovery.
"I had a good feeling before the operation and, now that it's over, I just want to rebuild and hopefully contribute for Rangers in the future."
