Off contract Rangers striker Kris Boyd is open to talks with Newcastle United.
As a free agent, his appeal is clear to a club apparently unwilling to invest in new players this summer.
"Kris hasn't heard anything from Newcastle," a source close to Boyd told the Evening Chronicle. "They don't seem to be doing too much - the whole transfer market's pretty slow but it's early days yet, it should pick up in the next fortnight or so.
"There are Turkish clubs interested, two or three of them seriously so, and four English clubs. There was interest from Newcastle in January and at times over the last year or so.
"Newcastle are a club Kris admires and he would welcome renewed interest."
