Rangers' Smith denies Arsenal interest in McGregor

Recent reports have suggested that English Premier League giants Arsenal were monitoring the progress of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor. The Scotland international, who has already been linked with Manchester United this season, was apparently being watched by Gunners scouts in Wednesday night's win over Hibernian at Easter Road but 'Gers boss Walter Smith dismissed that Arsenal were planning to make a move.

"How do you know they were watching him? There are probably about 20 scouts here tonight so how do you know they were watching Allan McGregor? Were they all watching him?" Smith asked reporters.

"We have 20 scouts at every home game, it's a natural thing that they come to football matches.

"I'm sure Arsene (Wenger) would have phoned me if he was wanting to take him and you will be the first to know if he gets in touch!"
