Scottish champions Rangers were yesterday delighted to announce a summer friendly with English Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. 'Gers will host the Blues at Ibrox on August 6 in a glamour friendly that is sure to pack out their Glasgow venue.
The match comes during the EPL pre-season but will fall during the third week of the Scottish season which kicks off on July 23.
Rangers will reschedule their third league match of the season to accommodate the West Londoners and new manager Ally McCoist is excited at the prospect.
"We are delighted to confirm Chelsea will be heading to Ibrox in August," he told the club's official website.
"They are a fantastic club and their squad is packed with world class players so I have no doubt this game will capture the imagination of our supporters.
"We enjoyed a fantastic match against them in 2007 and Ibrox was packed and I am sure the fans will turn out in huge numbers once again to watch us in action against such a high-profile English Premier League side.
"This game will be a great test for our players and we are all looking forward to their visit."
