The Daily Mail says Lovenkrands is heading for a return to Rangers after holding talks.
The Dane failed to nail down a regular start last season at Newcastle and has been linked with a move away this summer.
Rangers boss Ally McCoist is turning to Lovenkrands as he struggles to land his priority signings this summer.
